What You Eat Affects Your Hair

Healthy eating habits may help your hair stay healthy, luscious and shiny. What you consume may also help you prevent hair fall. You may see the effects on your hair if you aren’t getting adequateate nutrients from your diet.

Essential Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids, in particular, are essential for the health of your skin, hair, and nails. You should consume some of these omega-3-rich meals daily:

  • Fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, mackerel, and others
  • Canola oil, flaxseed oil, flaxseeds, chia seeds
  • Walnuts
  • Soybeans, tofu, and cruciferous vegetables
  • Vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts)

B6, B12, and folic acid are also essential for hair health. They are often in short supply among vegetarians and vegans.

Bananas, potatoes (both white and sweet), and spinach are all high in B6. Meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products are all excellent sources of B12.

Folic acid is found in a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, including citrus fruits and tomatoes. It’s located in whole-grain and fortified-grain products, as well as beans and lentils.

Protein

Protein is also vital for hair health, but many individuals don’t receive enough of it. Fish and chicken, as well as eggs and soy products, are excellent sources. Every day, consume one serving.

It’s a good idea to take a daily multivitamin since trace elements like iron, magnesium, zinc, and biotin impact hair.

Hair loss may be caused by a variety of factors, including the foods you eat. Genetic factors such as male or female pattern baldness may sometimes play a role. Thyroid disease, anaemia, autoimmune diseases, and hormonal imbalances may lead to hair loss or thinning.
