Palestine Reports Deaths Among The Fully Vaccinated And Fears New Covid-19 Delta Subvariant Mutation
According to Xinhua, Palestine reported deaths among the vaccinated amid a lack of PCR tests to identify the new Delta subvariant mutation AY4.2.
Palestinian Health Minister Mai al-Kaila stated on Wednesday that the West Bank had numerous fatalities, “the last of which was about two weeks ago of a person who was vaccinated with two doses of the Pfizer vaccine."
She urged Palestinians to wear face masks regardless of “whether they are vaccinated or not," adding on that “a person is exposed to infection and his life is in danger because the virus settles in the lungs from the first day."
“The new strain is under study to see if it entered the Palestinian territories or not," she said. According to al-Kaila, the health ministry lacks laboratory PCR testing to identify the new Delta mutation.
