Malaysia’s Ministry of Health reported additional 35 fatalities linked with Covid-19 in the previous 24 hours, including six brought-in-dead cases.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 fatalities in Malaysia to 31,369, including 6,334 brought-in-dead cases.

Selangor had the most deaths in the past 24 hours, with 11, followed by Penang with 5, Perak with 4, Johor and Kuala Lumpur with three each, Sabah and Kelantan with two and Kedah, Melaka, and Pahang with one each.

According to statistics from the CovidNow website, the average mortality rate in the previous two weeks has remained at 11 cases per million people.

Terengganu continues to have the highest mortality rate per million people, with 32 fatalities per million people in the previous two weeks, whereas Labuan had zero deaths over the same time.

Over 71% of Covid-19 deaths occur to people over the age of 60, with those over 80 accounting for the highest mortality rate by age group at 24.4%.

Covid-19 Infection

Malaysia also reported 2,594 new infections yesterday, bringing the total to 42,917 active cases.

84 percent (36,052) of them were quarantined in their residences, 7.2 percent (3,071) were treated in quarantine centres, and another 8.1 percent (3,497) were hospitalised.

Currently, 297 patients are receiving treatment in intensive care units, with 169 requiring ventilators.
