According to the Cambodian Ministry of Health, the country’s first case of the Omicron coronavirus variant was discovered through a local woman who had travelled from Ghana.

The 23-year-old lady had returned from Ghana via Dubai and Bangkok, according to a statement made by the ministry on Tuesday (Dec 14).

According to the report, the lady, who was 15 weeks pregnant, had been brought to the hospital for treatment.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the Omicron variant, which was identified in South Africa and Hong Kong last month, has already been reported by over 70 countries and is presumably widespread in the rest of the world, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Still, it should not be disregarded as “mild."

After reaching one of Asia’s highest Covid-19 vaccination rates, with over 88 per cent of its 16 million people already vaccinated, the country reopened its borders to vaccinated tourists last month.
