According to the Health Ministry’s latest statistics updated at midnight, 19 more individuals died in Malaysia from Covid-19.

According to the Health Ministry’s latest statistics updated at midnight, 19 more individuals died in Malaysia from Covid-19.

As a result, the cumulative death toll from Covid-19 across the country now stands at 31,334.

Three of the 19 were brought in dead, according to the CovidNow website.

Terengganu has the highest death rate in the country, with 32 fatalities per million residents. Perak came in second with 24 deaths per one million people, followed by Penang with 22 deaths per one million people.

Nationally, the mortality rate is now 11 per one million people. Nine states had lower averages. Kelantan has ten, Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur have nine, Johor has eight, Selangor has six, Sabah has five, Melaka has three, and Sarawak has one.

Labuan is the only state or federal territory where no fatalities were reported.

Almost three-quarters (72.8%) of the most recent fatalities were those over 60. By comparison, 22.2% of those surveyed were between 18 and 59.

New Infections

Additionally, the Ministry of Health updated its statistics on daily Covid-19 cases by state.

Malaysia recorded 2,649 new cases yesterday, with Selangor reporting the highest daily infection rate at 663.

Johor, with 330 new cases, was followed by Kelantan (295), Penang (243), Pahang (161), Perak and Terengganu (149 each), Kedah (139), Melaka (128), Kuala Lumpur (123), Negeri Sembilan (111), and Sabah (105).

Putrajaya reported 15 new cases, while Perlis with ten and Labuan with four cases.

Malaysia presently has a combined total of 2,734,165 cases.
